Taituara is the national membership organization for local government professionals, a team of experts that provide leadership, promote innovation and enable management excellence within local governments. Voxell was engaged to act for both the tenant and landlord for the base build and fit out works for SOLGM’s new national headquarters in Wellington.
Together with the Taituara management team, Voxell co-created the concept design for their new Wellington based office space. The design is made up of five areas;
The Gallery, The Salon, The Library, The Office Space and The Chamber. These zones are defined and delineated through material difference and furniture placement, i.e. the carpet and ceiling grid define the spaces whilst the furniture sets the ‘tone’. These zones have a hierarchy that that define the security thresholds, i.e. as you pass through the space there is a suggestion that you will need to be invited from public through to private.
Taituara had a vision to develop a new workspace that was modern and innovative, that catered to not only their developing needs as a business of growth but also enhanced their ways of working and promoted well-being for their employees.
To maximise staff well-being, the layout of the various functions has also been designed based on optimising access to light as well as the views outward.
The design narrative through the spaces begins in the lobby. The Taituara staff or visitors arrive through the door directly adjacent the kitchen. This is unless there is an event on, in which case, all visitors would arrive through a secured ‘Event Space’ door. The main entry opens into the kitchen and breakout space where staff and visitors get their first impression of Taituara.
The brand is immediately reflected against a professional setting of an open space filled with light and views looking East across Wellington Harbour.
